Fairly new abandoned love hotel in Mie Prefecture opened in the 1990s and closed down in 2013. Graffiti, some quite artistic, can be seen at ground and roof level. Many of the rooms still remain in a pretty good condition. As I basically can't drive I had a nice stroll through paddy fields to reach the hotel 3km away from the nearest train station. As it happens with most hotels, particularly love hotels, in Japan it's haunted. 🎵 "Suiren" (1989) by Pauline Oliveros, Stuart Dempster & Panaiotis from the album "Deep Listening". From the Old Higashi-Aoyama Transformer Substation / 旧東青山変電所 (see video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVlsoeqjQtE) and through the Aoyama Plateau (青山高原) I trekked about 10km to reach this famous haunted spot, a former ryokan for hikers in Iga, Mie Prefecture. The reason surrounding its closure is unknown. Wild theories such an adulterous relationship between the owner and a young female part-time worker resulting in an unwanted pregnancy and ending with her suicide by drowning in the nearby river, or the owner’s joint family suicide are among the most talked about urban legends among “shinrei”(心霊) spot fans making this location one of the top haunted places in Mie Prefecture. (Mori No Yoake)" (1984) by Hiroshi Yoshimura (吉村弘) from the album "A・I・R (Air In Resort)".

Located in Gifu Prefecture it closed down sometime during the mid-2000s. Here I also shot the music video "Hayashi-san" for the singer-songwriter (Lonely One on Earth). You can watch the video on my Eijanaika Productions channel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUpv47XHsIo) The owner of this love hotel must have certainly been of Korean descent judging by the dolls, books and other items left behind. He lived with his family in a house near the hotel. All sort of documents and papers can still be found in this house. These include the owner's son's graduation photo album and letters from his girlfriend at school. That he decided not to take them with him gives rise to speculation that he may not have really enjoyed his time at school. If being a Korean born in Japan wasn't enough living right next to his father's arguably disre...

It is said that whoever dares to enter the building will be involved in an accident within a few days. Rumor has it that at least 16 people have died so far after visiting the site.
